A Deployment of Coexisting Logical Layers from the Fundamental Contradictory Act
Scope of this document: The philosophical foundation of time and space within ArXe theory is articulated here. The complete hierarchy of structural levels, physical correspondences, and predictions is developed at arxelogic.site.
PREAMBLE: Why This Articulation Is Necessary
1. Classical Physics Assumes Physical Pre-existences
Classical and quantum physics presupposes time and space as a given background. It does not articulate them from more basic structures: it installs them as a prior stage upon which phenomena then occur. Newton’s spacetime is an absolute container. Einstein’s is dynamic, but equally pre-existent as structure. Quantum mechanics’ spacetime is the background upon which states and operators are defined.
This choice carries a precise philosophical cost: it is Platonist. Assuming that space and time are the given substrate of reality amounts to postulating entities that need not be generated, that simply are before any process. They are pre-existences in the sense that no physical theory asks where they come from — they are assumed as a starting point.
ArXe takes a different path: it articulates them from more basic logical layers. Not as a consequence of other physical entities, but from the most minimal logical structure possible.
2. The Key: Separating Essence from Existence Incorporates Indecidability
The move that makes this articulation possible is a distinction that standard physics does not operate:
Essence ≠ Existence ≠ Truth
Classical physics implicitly operates the co-implication: what is also exists and is susceptible to truth. Under that co-implication, indecidability can only be epistemic — we do not know which of two states is real, but one of them is. The order exists even if we do not know it.
ArXe breaks that co-implication. When essence and existence are separated, indecidability can be ontological: there is no order because order does not exist at that level, not because we are ignorant of it. And this completely transforms the landscape. Without decidability there is no first or second. Without first or second, succession is not possible. And if there can be no succession, what there is is simultaneity — which is exactly the structure of space.
The separation of essence/existence is not a trick: it is the condition of possibility for the entire structural articulation.
A necessary warning for what follows: the T^k levels articulated below are not temporal steps or stages of an argument. They are coexisting logical layers — degrees of determination that are all simultaneously present in the structure of reality. What is articulated is what type of phenomenon each layer can support, not in what order it appeared.
3. The Foundation Is Local and Present, Not Transcendent
ArXe is not Platonist because it finds no ultimate foundation in any eternal or ideal domain. The foundation — if it can be called that — is the present and local temporal act: the istence, the “this, here, now”. The contradictory generation does not occur in a “beyond” of pure forms. It occurs exactly here and now, in the only place where anything can occur.
This has a direct consequence: time does not emerge from something eternal. It emerges as the first act of stabilization, which is itself temporal. There is no vicious circularity here — there is structural closure: the act that generates temporality is itself temporal, not prior to it in an atemporal domain.
4. The LEM Is Not Denied — It Is Localized
The most natural objection to ArXe is: “you are violating the Law of Excluded Middle (LEM)”. The answer is more precise than a negation: ArXe does not deny the LEM. It circumscribes it.
The LEM is correct and operative in the layer of binary logic — level T¹ of the hierarchy. What ArXe rejects is its universalization: the pretension that the LEM governs all levels of reality. Indecidability and circularity are not logical errors to be eliminated; they are structural features of levels where binary logic is not yet the operative layer. Classical physics, by assuming the LEM as universal, cannot see those levels. ArXe makes them visible precisely because it limits the LEM’s scope to where it belongs.
This is not adjusting the game for convenience. The discussion over whether separating essence from existence is legitimate has centuries of philosophical history — from Aristotle to Avicenna, from Kant to Heidegger, from Frege to contemporary analytic ontology. Classical science made an axiomatic decision by fusing them. That decision made certain phenomena and certain types of order visible. ArXe makes the other axiomatic decision — and makes visible structures the first cannot see. What each framework can observe, describe, and predict depends on the axioms with which it was built. There is no neutral vantage point from which to compare the results of both frameworks without already being inside one of them.

LAYER 0: The Fundamental Contradictory Act — T⁰
Starting point (presupposes nothing further):

Ontology of T⁰:

T⁰ is the contradiction S ∧ ¬S in pure formal status. It is not an ontological principle nor an entity: it is the formal configuration of absolute indetermination. It cannot stabilize as a determinate fact. This is decisive: the contradiction does not ground, does not explain, does not necessitate anything. It simply cannot constitute a stable determination. What emerges does not occur from T⁰ as cause, but as its stabilizing negation.
Why is this possible?
Because ArXe distinguishes essence from existence: S ∧ ¬S has formal status as essence without existing. Classical physics cannot take this step because it operates under the co-implication Being ↔ Existence ↔ Truth ↔ Non-contradiction. ArXe breaks that co-implication.
LAYER 1: The Temporal Condition — T¹
Generative mechanism (Exentation):
The negation of contradiction, ¬(S ∧ ¬S), is formally valid. Logical validity does not entail ontological necessity, but it opens the first regime of stabilization: Exentation.
The system:

What is T¹?
T¹ is temporal condition, not flowing time. This distinction matters: the two phases (a, a') exist structurally, but without intrinsic ordering between them. There is no internal reason at this level for a to precede a' or vice versa. Succession is possible — there are two distinct phases — but it does not yet occur as a process. T¹ is the minimal architecture that makes time possible, not time itself as flow.
It is a homogeneous temporal field: there are two phases, but nothing marks one as different from the other. There is no variation, no frequency, no wave. Real flow — effective alternation — emerges only in T⁻¹.
The dimensional correspondence is established as follows:
T¹ = 2·Tf
If something and its contrary are not possible within 1Tf,
they are possible within 2Tf = T¹ = T (physical time)
The requirement that two logically distinct phases not coexist in the same fundamental instant opens the minimal condition of time: S and ¬S require at least two fundamental instants in order to succeed one another without simultaneous contradiction. That minimal separation is T¹.
Physical relations:
- Pre-inflationary state of the universe
- Quantum vacuum fluctuations (homogeneous)
- Pure temporality before any differentiation
LAYER 2: Temporal Alterity — T⁻¹
Mechanism: T¹ exents from itself. Alternation emerges.
Logical structure: S → ¬S → S → ¬S → ...
Ontology of T⁻¹:
- Logic: Ternary (included middle)
- BC: 0 closed / 1 open → cannot exist in isolation
- n(-1) = 3, arity 3
- Phases: 3
- Physical dimension: 1/T (Frequency)
What does T⁻¹ introduce?
Temporal variation: time is no longer homogeneous; phase changes occur. But these changes are without memory: when B is reached, A no longer exists. There is no reversibility. The temporal direction is not intrinsically determined (which way is “future” is not decidable from within the level), hence the open BC.
The open BC as ontological indecidability:
The open BC represents the direction of temporal flow — past vs. future — which is not intrinsically determined until observed from T³. This is not an epistemic limitation: it is the ontological structure of the level. Indecidability here is not ignorance; it is the mode of being of T⁻¹.
Why arity 3?
Structures with an open BC are irreducible: they cannot be decomposed into simpler units without losing their character. Arity Numbers are multiplicative atoms — irreducible. The correspondence is not arbitrary: it reflects that each fundamental level has a unique and indivisible structural identity.
The temporal arrow is ontological, not thermodynamic:
The irreversibility of time does not stem from the increase of entropy. It stems from the irreversibility of actualization itself. When configuration C₁ is actualized, C₁ becomes the present state. “Reversing” is not undoing C₁ — it is a new actualization C₂. And C₂, even if it resembles a prior state, has a different actualization history: it is f(C₀, c₁, c₂), not the original C₀. One cannot truly go back because going back is itself a step forward.
This inverts the usual relation: the increase of entropy is a consequence of the ontological irreversibility of T⁻¹, not its cause.
LAYER 3: The Emergence of Space — T²
This is the central node of the articulation.
Mechanism: T⁻¹ (temporal alternation) exents. Produces contrary variations = opposite directions.
Ontology of T²:
- Logic: 4-ary (pairs of contraries)
- BC: 2 closed / 0 open → can exist in isolation
- n(2) = 5, related to arity 5
- Phases: 4
- Physical dimension: L (Length / 2D Space)
3.1 The Fundamental Theorem: Indecidability → Simultaneity
The transition from T⁻¹ to T² is not arbitrary. It is governed by the principle:
Logical indecidability at level n

Structural demonstration:
- In T¹ there exist two temporal phases

- If succession cannot be established → they cannot be temporally successive
- If they cannot be successive → they must be simultaneous
- Simultaneity = spatial coexistence = spatial structure
∴ The indecidability of order between identical temporal phases forces the emergence of space.
Why this is possible in ArXe but not in classical physics:
Classical physics does not operate the essence/existence distinction. For it, indecidability is an epistemic limitation (we do not know the order), not an ontological condition (there is no order). ArXe says: indecidability is not ignorance about an order that exists — order does not exist at that level. And when order does not exist, the phases are simultaneous in an ontological sense, not merely an epistemic one. This ontological simultaneity is space.
3.2 The Structure of Emergent Space
Contrary variations = Reversible directions
A <──────────────> B
From A to B: when B is reached, A CONTINUES TO EXIST

This contrasts directly with time (T⁻¹): in time, when B is reached, A no longer exists. In space, A persists. This ontological persistence is the structural mark of the spatial.
Properties derived from T²:
- 2D spatiality: “anteriority” (what is before me) as primitive structure
- Reversibility: I can go from A to B and return to A
- Ontological persistence: Points do not disappear when abandoned
- Symmetric causality: Between two isolated bodies, there are no absolute ponderable truths
- Does A push B, or does B move away from A? → Indistinguishable
- Does A enlarge, or does B shrink? → Indistinguishable
This last property is the two-body indecidability, which cannot be broken from within level T² — it requires the ternary structure of T³.

LAYER 4: Spatial Variation — T⁻²

The open BC represents the direction of curvature — space can curve “inward” or “outward” without intrinsic preference. This is the indecidability of curvature, manifesting as gauge freedom in spatial variation.
Physical relations:

- Virtual particles as relational effects between distinct temporal densities
- Gravitational fields as variations of the spatial metric
- Gravitational waves as propagation of spatial variations
LAYER 5: Mass and Objectivity — T³
Ontology of T³:
- Logic: 6-ary
- BC: 3 closed / 0 open → can exist in isolation
- n(3) = 7, related to arity 7
- Phases: 6
- Physical dimension: M (Mass)
Mass emerges as T² + T¹: it combines spatiality with positive temporality. It is the first level at which the temporal distinction past-present-future and objectivity (“what persists from multiple perspectives”) become possible.
Generative process:

SYNTHESIS: The Coexisting Layers
The logical layers do not succeed one another — they coexist and superpose. The diagram below does not represent a temporal sequence but a hierarchy of structural complexity: each level includes the previous ones and adds capacity.

SPACE AS SIMULTANEITY: The Central Idea
Fundamental space T² is simultaneity. It is not a pre-existing container. It is not an arena where events occur. It is the structure that allows elements ontologically indecidable in their order to coexist.
The dimensions beyond T² express distinct types of simultaneity. The correspondence with physical phenomena is not one-to-one — it is not that “T⁻³ is QCD”. It is about thresholds of structural capacity: a given level is the minimum from which the structure has sufficient complexity to support a certain type of phenomenon. Below that threshold, the phenomenon is not structurally possible; at it and above, it is.

In all cases, the mechanism is the same: ontological indecidability → forced coexistence → simultaneity structure. The “internal spaces” of physics (color space, gauge space) are in ArXe exactly the same type of object as positional space: simultaneity structures generated by indecidability, each at the minimum level that can support them.
ANTI-PLATONISM IN THE ARTICULATION
This articulation does not presuppose:
- A transcendent domain in which the forms of space and time reside
- An eternal truth “space exists”
- An ideal entity “pure time”
- An absolute principle of non-contradiction as ultimate foundation
Time emerges as the first act of stabilization — not spatial, not eternal, not ideal. Space emerges as the structure that allows coexistence of what cannot be temporally ordered — not as a prior container, but as a structural consequence of indecidability.
The circularity that appears in the articulation (exentation is applied to its own results) is not a logical defect: it is the mechanism of structural closure that allows stabilization without a transcendent foundation. There is no petitio principii because what is articulated is not assumed; there is structural closure that generates without presupposing.

ON THE FALSIFIABILITY OF THIS ARTICULATION
This articulation is falsifiable — in Popper’s original sense, not in the sense that later tradition assigned to him.
Popper introduced falsifiability as an epistemic attitude: the disposition not to defend one’s ideas dogmatically, to recognize that they may be wrong, to remain open to rational critique. Not as an experimental protocol demanding a “refuting proof” for a theory to be legitimate. That second reading — that a theory is only valid if it specifies in advance the conditions that would destroy it — is itself a philosophical position, not a neutral fact about science, and it presupposes exactly the binary true/false logic that ArXe circumscribes to a specific layer of reality.
ArXe adopts the original attitude: this articulation may be wrong. The axiomatic choices it makes — separating essence from existence, treating indecidability as ontological, circumscribing the LEM to the binary layer — are choices, not certainties. The central argument (indecidability → simultaneity → space) is structurally coherent and philosophically motivated, but coherence is not truth.
What ArXe does not accept is the demand for a “refuting proof” formulated from within the framework being questioned. Asking ArXe to prove its validity using the criteria of classical physics amounts to asking the second axiomatic path to justify itself from the first — which is not neutrality, it is circularity in favor of the dominant framework.
The openness to being wrong is genuine. Dialogue is the mechanism, not experimental falsation as the ultimate arbiter.
